“Kumho Tire wants to ensure customers are prepared before hitting the roads to ensure a safe and happy holiday season. With holiday travel increasing it is important to plan ahead and take safety precautions to keep everyone safe on the roads and highways,” said David Koh, Kumho Tire Marketing Manager.  “With the appropriate tires, checked both for proper inflation and tread wear, drivers are more prepared for roads affected by winter weather and increased traffic.”

When planning holiday travels it is important for drivers to evaluate the quality of their vehicle’s condition and take the necessary precautions to ensure safety. A vehicle’s tires are the only 4 points of contact with the road, which makes them a crucial point for safety before traveling this holiday season. Kumho has provided the following tips to keep drivers safe on the roads this holiday season:

Maintain Proper Tire Inflation – Colder weather and increased traveling can affect tire pressure, increasing the risk for loss of traction and control while driving. It is important for drivers to check their tires inflation monthly or before traveling long distances. To ensure proper tire inflation drivers can check the recommended PSI, pounds per square inch, on the inside of driver’s side door. This will allow for the optimal pressure to maintain proper control and traction while on the road.

Check Tire Quality – Along with inflation, a tire’s tread is important in providing the grip necessary to maintain proper traction on often wet roads and in heavy traffic. To ensure safety it is important to check the tread depth of the vehicle’s tires and any signs of wear or cracking before hitting the road.

Ensure Safe Speed and Distance – With holiday travels being affected by winter weather and an increased amount of traffic on the road it is important to maintain a safe speed and distance between vehicles. Most accidents are caused by an increase in speed and a decrease in reaction time in often wet and congested conditions. It is important for drivers to maintain more distance between vehicles to provide enough time and space to react.
