Big O Tires recently celebrated its 50th anniversary at its annual convention in Anaheim, Calif., where it presented a host of educational sessions for its franchisees, laid the foundation for growing the operation in 2012 and beyond, and recognized the chain’s top performers at a “Best of the Best” Awards banquet.

The convention garnered nearly 700 franchisees, managers, vendors and corporate participants. The message presented at the three-day event focused on the strong foundation the company has built during the first 50 years and how that will be leveraged to support each franchisee’s future growth and increased profitability, according to Kevin Kormondy, executive vice President and COO.

“The focus of our convention and message to our franchisees highlights the history of Big O Tires and how it has evolved over the past 50 years to meet the needs of consumers,” says Kormondy.

“Our franchisees are the lifeblood of this great organization,” he points out. “It is their dedication to the Big O system that makes this company the success it is today. It is an honor to showcase their commitment and success.”

Each year the franchisees are recognized for their contribution to the community as well as to the company. One such honor is the Point of Light award, presented to an individual “who embodies the spirit of Big O Tires with commitment, values and dedication.”

As one of the most respected franchise owners in the organization, Kevin Brooks was presented this year’s Point of Light salute for building a performance-driven culture grounded in accountability and loyalty. As owner of eight stores on Colorado’s western slope, Brooks has built the some of the best performing stores in the system, Kormondy reports.

“Kevin Brooks is a great franchisee,” Kormondy continues. “He embodies the spirit of Big O Tires and its programs. We have built a supportive foundation to help our franchisees achieve success, as Kevin has, and it is our goal to continue this pattern while strategically offering franchise opportunities throughout the mid-west and western U.S.”
