The Kansas Department of Revenue has notified ASA-Midwest that it is conducting audits of automotive service facilities located in Kansas.

Self-audit candidates will be selected based on the size of their business and tax filing history. Selected recipients will be asked to review their records to determine if all sales and use taxes have been properly remitted to the state and to return a monthly summary of unreported taxable sales and purchases.

The department generallywill allow 30 days for this review, but recipients can call the Kansas Department of Revenue offices to request an extension. The largest area of noncompliance is use tax not being reported on out of state purchases.

If you have questions about this, please feel free to contact the ASA-Midwest offices at (816) 781-5801 or the Kansas Department of Revenue at (785) 296-3688.
