Raybestos Powertrain announces that the company’s new Hybrid Technology (HT) friction clutch plates for automatic transmissions are now available for purchase in the United States and around the world. The patented Raybestos HT design integrates a unique groove pattern and a proprietary blend of premium, high-energy friction material to create a new generation of friction clutches that seamlessly combine the fluid dynamics of segmented friction lining with the strength and durability of a full friction ring.

Rigorous testing to SAE standards, supported by extensive field testing, proves that Raybestos HT friction clutch plates can reduce stresses during shifts. Improved oil flow keeps the components cooler, extending the life of the clutches and helping the rebuild last longer than
ever before.

“Everything about these new HT friction clutch plates is innovative, from our distinctive groove pattern to our proprietary, high-energy friction material,” said David Coolidge, CEO of Raybestos Powertrain. “Our product designers and engineers spent countless hours testing and perfecting this Hybrid Technology to deliver smooth, durable shifts that can outperform OE across a broad range of applications.”

Performance-enhancing features of the Raybestos HT friction clutch include:
• Resistance to extreme heat caused by high-energy loading;
• Fast, smooth engagements and stable performance, even with high-energy shifts;
• Higher torque capacity than conventional high-energy materials;
• Low material compression – a critical factor in maintaining piston travel;
• Excellent distribution of pressure evenly through the clutch;
• Tight production tolerances for fast, hassle-free installation; and
• Longer clutch and transmission life after rebuild.

“We’re excited about what this means for our customers,” said Coolidge. “Superior performance, competitive pricing and trouble-free installation make the Raybestos HT friction clutch the ideal solution for almost any transmission rebuild.”

The initial release of Raybestos HT friction clutch plates includes GM, Ford and many imports. Additional applications will become available throughout the year.

Raybestos Powertrain HT friction clutch plates are offered separately in bulk, or as part of a clutch pack module. Introductory pricing is available for a limited time.
