ASE Question Of the Month
Which is correct?
You’re correct if you answered C!
A check for other codes should always be performed at the same time to look for any code that indicates that the engine is running less efficiently than it should. Fuel trim related codes and misfire codes can cause this DTC to set even if the converter is still healthy and either can lead to the rapid demise of the converter from overheating. Oxygen entering the system can skew the fuel trims and/or alter the ECM’s ability to accurately test the converter, resulting in the DTC.
