The 50th Annual Northwood University International Auto Show (NUIAS) will feature more than 500 vehicles, the majority of which will consist of brands and models familiar to the general public. This year’s theme, “Cruising Through the Golden Anniversary,” focuses on where the show, as well as the automotive industry, has been, where it is now and where it hopes to go in the future. The Auto Show will also feature many “must see” vehicles. It’s unlikely that the general public has seen these vehicles, some of which may be completely new to the typical enthusiast or car buyer.

There are several brands this year that the Auto Show would like to spotlight. The first is Bentley/Rolls Royce. This high-end automotive manufacturer is new to the show and will be showcasing its best, most luxurious vehicles. While it’s a name many recognize, it is a unique opportunity for the public to see these models up close. These British car manufacturers focus on extravagant vehicles, earning the respect and admiration from car enthusiasts worldwide.

Also new to the show this year is the Specialty Equipment Marketing Association (SEMA). This aftermarket automotive company is also celebrating its 50th anniversary. SEMA members work to make vehicles more convenient, fun, attractive and unique by buying, selling and using all kinds of specialty parts and accessories. Their display at the Auto Show will definitely be one that will catch the attention of the public eye.

The Auto Show will feature several vehicles from the Lingenfelter Collection as it does each year. The Lingenfelter Collection has a lineup of some of the world’s most sought-after classic and contemporary cars, many which are limited to only a very small number produced. This year’s display will include, among others, a 2011 LTA Convertible Firebird/Camaro, a 1967 Kustom Corvette and a 2010 ZR1 Corvette. The Lingenfelter display will give Auto Show visitors an up-close view of some of the most interesting and exciting cars in the industry from a variety of different makes and models, such as classic muscle cars, exotics and an extensive Corvette collection. Also from the Lingenfelter Collection and on display with Team Cadillac is the 2010 Supercharged Escalade that was raced in the American version of Top Gear.

Porsche, another well-known luxury brand, will once again be making its appearance at the Northwood Auto Show. On display will be its 911 model. With its distinctive design, this vehicle is celebrating its milestone 50th anniversary and is sure to be a popular car among guests to the show.

Show hours are Friday, Sept. 27, from 12 p.m. (noon)-6 p.m.; Saturday, Sept. 28, from 9 a.m.-6 p.m.; and Sunday, Sept. 29, from 10 a.m.-5 p.m.

Many exhibits will line the Mall Walk and offer a variety of food, information and entertainment.  The Auto Show is free of charge, offers free parking and is open to the public.
