This year, the Kansas City Chapter of the Automotive Service Association - Midwest will be toasting the holidays with unusual flair. As part of their annual holiday party, the board has chosen a family in need to be surprised with the gift of a fully refurbished 2005 PT Cruiser.
The event, scheduled for Dec. 9 at Louie's Wine Dive in Kansas City, will serve as the conclusion to a month-long drive to raise funds to cover the purchase and repair of the vehicle. To date, sponsors include Advance Auto Parts / CARQUEST, Buddy's Automotive, Eilenberger's Automotive, Greg's Tire Center, I-70 Auto Service, NAPA Auto Parts, and S&S Service Center.
Applications for car recipients were gathered, and one family was chosen by the board.
"The ASA Kansas City chapter is excited to help this single mother as she has struggled finding transportation to Children's Mercy Hospital multiple times a week for her son's leukemia treatments. We are excited to make a difference in this family's life," said Joe Sevart, ASA-Kansas City chapter president. A friend of the family submitted the application without the family's knowledge, so the presentation will truly be a surprise.
