Continental Commercial Vehicles & Aftermarket, a global supplier of systems and components to automobile and truck manufacturers is developing a new concept in automotive service that will place all of the information needed to service, repair and maintain a vehicle in front of the technician at the moment it is needed. Called Augmented Reality Diagnostics, this innovative service technology provides a new user experience centered on the automotive technician.

Augmented Reality Diagnostics provides information visually and just-in-time, using advanced machine vision techniques to identify and overlay information directly onto the vehicle system or component that is currently being serviced. This includes service procedures such as parts removal and installation, parts breakdowns, hardware specifications, torque requirements and more.

Augmented Reality Diagnostics provides a highly intuitive user interface, designed to keep the technician's hands available to do the job efficiently. Diagnostic and technical information is provided via mobile devices such as tablets or safety glasses, as needed. This helps to eliminate or minimize distraction and unnecessary technician movement, such as having to step away from the vehicle to reference pertinent service information.

Augmented Reality Diagnostics provides "real time" user interaction and workflow updates to make sure the job is done correctly, the first time.
