Car Care Council names top women in the aftermarket

The Car Care Council Women’s Board (WB) named Jody DeVere, CEO, AskPatty.com, has been chosen as the ninth annual Aftermarket Woman of the Year.

The Car Care Council Women’s Board (WB) named Jody DeVere, CEO, AskPatty.com, has been chosen as the ninth annual Aftermarket Woman of the Year. Amy Mattinat, owner and manager of Auto Craftsmen, has been named the Female Service Shop Owner of the Year, while Andrea Schultz has been selected as the first-ever Woman of Promise. The announcement was made at the 2012 Women’s Board reception, Tuesday, Oct. 30, during AAPEX.

The Women of the Year awards are administered by the WB Career Leadership Committee. The Woman of the Year is chosen based on her longevity in the aftermarket, her career accomplishments, her leadership capabilities and dedication to the automotive aftermarket industry. Female Service Shop Owner of the Year is given to an outstanding woman that has a proven record of excellence in the automotive service industry. The Woman of Promise is given to a woman who has shown potential in her aftermarket career.

Aftermarket Woman of the Year
DeVere has been active in the industry for nine years after 25 years of achievement as an entrepreneur focused on sales and marketing leadership. She created a multi-level platform which provides automotive education to women consumers featuring askpatty.com, blogging, video, radio and TV appearances and more.

She has created or participated in many programs dedicated to aftermarket education including a panel of more than 50 women automotive experts, a training and certification program, a partnership between the Girl Scouts of America and AutoTEX Pink Wiper blades and more.

DeVere has held many leadership roles such as president of Women’s Automotive Association International, where she is currently treasurer/secretary and spokesperson on car care and safety for the Rain-X, division of Shell Oil and Mobil 1 Motor Oil, division of Exxon/Mobil. She has won many awards for her achievements and is an active member in a number of automotive organizations including the WB.

Female Service Shop Owner of the Year
After owning a catering company for 10 years, Mattinat started working at the independent auto repair shop, Auto Craftsman, in Vermont as the bookkeeper, eventually buying the business in 2009. In addition to her duties as owner and manager, Mattinat is an educator, writing a monthly car care newsletter, authoring the book, How to Buy a Great Used Car and putting on free car care clinics for women.

She also visits high school shop classes in the area and represents askpatty.com as a panelist and in numerous car shows. She was a spokesperson for Mobil 1 Synthetic Oil in 2010 and did over 30 radio interviews on the importance of vehicle maintenance. She is an active member of the Car Care Council Women’s Board.

Mattinat’s shop is accredited as an ASE Blue Seal of Excellence shop and AAA-approved. She graduated from Paul Smith’s College with a degree in Hotel Restaurant Management, and is the second-ever WB Female Service Shop Owner of the Year.

Woman of Promise
Schultz has been at The Timken Company for five years, currently holding the position of regional manager for the midwest. She is responsible for fostering and maintaining customer relationships, and is highly active in the industry including as an exec board member of the Car Care Council Women’s Board.

This year, she is also the recipient of the AAIA Impact Award: Four for the Future, which annually honors four aftermarket professional, age 40 or younger, who have made remarkable contributions with the aftermarket industry.
