Two trends related to faster deliveries could change auto aftermarket

April 22, 2016
The automotive aftermarket has to come to terms with two disruptive channel trends: suppliers shipping directly to repair shops and same-day delivery. The upside is that these trends can help repair shops service their customers faster, but distributors, in particular, will have to adapt to these evolutionary changes.

Aftermarket Business World columnist Larry Silvey says the aftermarket has to come to terms with two disruptive channel trends: suppliers shipping directly to repair shops and same-day delivery. Silvey cites third-party logistics provider Cerasis, which says that e-commerce is driving technological change in the aftermarket and it will continue to disrupt traditional parts distribution.
