Presenter Bernie Thompson is a perennial favorite among technicians and shop owners alike. A graduate of Lincoln Technical Center, Thompson has 30-odd years of automotive experience under his belt, including time as a multi-bay shop owner, mobile diagnostic technician, shop owner and tool developer. His firm, Automotive Test Solutions, has developed numerous innovative tools and diagnostic aids that have won several industry awards. When you listen to Thompson begin his instructional sessions, it doesn’t take long to realize that he is a man that knows his material inside and out. The session began with an overview of the various EVAP systems in use by today’s popular car lines, with a focus on how they work and explained in a manner that made it all very clear to his listeners. Each system was followed up with testing methods, both as recommended by the OEM and more direct approaches Thompson has developed over his years of experience.
