Change was a major theme for the automotive aftermarket in 2004, and although the Top 10 distributors listed in our Auto Chain Report have not shifted much from last year, major transformations did take place. Uni-Select and Middle Atlantic Warehouse Distributor, Inc. (MAWDI) joined forces in the U.S., AutoZone Inc. added more than 200 company-owned stores to its roster in 2004 and several auto chains listed on last year’s Top 50 were bought out, including Straus Frank (Strafco Inc.) and Acme Automotive Parts Warehouse.
In this year’s report, we highlight the 50 biggest chains, providing as up-to-date information as possible. While we realize that some distributors listed in our report outrank other companies in terms of sales, we chose to rank the top 50 distributors based on the number of company-owned stores each one has.
In addition, we have updated our Top 50 Prospects Report to provide you with an accurate and valuable resource for selling wholesale parts. This is our third occasion offering you prospecting opportunities to help increase your sales.
