The Automotive Content Professionals Network (ACPN), segment of the Auto Care Association, formerly NCMA, has agreed to extend the Automotive Content Professional (ACP) designation to include vendors. The decision was recently reached by the ACPN Board.

The ACP designation is a professional certificate program that was created in 2010 with the University of the Aftermarket to codify and more accurately define the skills and experiences important to become a professional content manager in today’s auto care industry. This program denotes a path that professionals can follow in order to develop the skills, contacts and knowledge necessary for the automotive content professional.

“Automotive content professionals are more than just those who implement and manage data,” said Brian Cruickshank, director, University of the Aftermarket. “The designation includes a vast array of other job functions and organizations that are critical to the management of catalog data. We are pleased to now offer the ACP opportunity to these industry professionals.”

“The extension of this program highlights ACPN’s commitment to professional development across the content and data management spectrum,” said Taylor Mitchell, senior director, Technology Standards and Solutions, Auto Care Association. “Solution providers and vendors offer unique perspectives and are a valuable part of the content community.”

The requirements for all ACP designations has not changed and all prospective ACP recipients will still need to complete the requirements listed on the University of the Aftermarket’s website at www.universityoftheaftermarket.com.
