Electric-powered and hybrid automobiles, alternative fuels, electronic components and technologies to promote safety, limit consumption and fuel emissions are among the many attractions of Futurmotive, the exhibit of leading innovations in automotive technologies and part of the backdrop of Autopromotec 2009, which takes place May 20 through 24 at the Bologna Trade Fair Center in Bologna, Italy.

Futurmotive is being coordinated by Autopromotec in collaboration with POMOS, Polo per la Mobilità Sostenibile (Centre for Sustainable Mobility) at the University of Rome La Sapienza and the CNOS FAP, Centro Salesiano di Formazione Professionale (Salesian Professional Training Centre).

The show will be organized into specific areas for visitors to gain information on alternative fuels, hybrid technologies, tires and other innovations. University professors and skilled tutors will offer their knowledge to vehicle repair professionals and other visitors, illustrating the latest in auto technologies using specific cards on assistance to the products exhibited and special technical demonstrations.

A number of prestige automakers and national and international aftermarket companies have chosen Futurmotive to help lend visibility to their technological solutions.

Some of the major innovations in the separate exhibit areas of Futurmotive will include a Mercedes Benz 316 NGT bi-fuel methane-powered vehicle, the Tetra Fuel system from Magneti Marelli, the Bizzarrini P538 Eco Targa Florio with hybrid engine, the Urb-e Microcar from Enea featuring supercapacitors, technologies for the diesel hybrid and Start & Stop from Bosch, the innovations of Denso and Valeo, the Magneti Marelli Free Choice roboticized gearbox and many others.

All technologies for Sustained Mobility will be analyzed and described in detail with the use of diagrams and scale models, such as that of the EcoGas Consortium and CNOS FAP equipped with the complete diagram of a LPG injection system. In addition, the POMOS experts will be on hand to provide detailed information to visitors on the innovation and the technological solutions that will be making their arrival in auto garages.

Futurmotive’s mission is to illustrate to mechanics, body shop professionals, tire repair professionals and auto electricians and others in the industry the best technology motorists can take advantage of to ensure safety, reduce fuel consumption and emissions and improve service. The task is all the more important as repair professionals, in virtue of the confidence they inspire in car owners, have the responsibility of educating automobile owners on the issues and guiding them towards more efficient solutions for sustainable mobility, servicing and maintenance of vehicles.

The demand for safer automobiles that consume less fuel and release lower emissions will generate an increase in models and solutions available to motorists. This poses a technological challenge for the automotive aftermarket sector, which must adapt to the new market scenarios and develop specialized technical skills to manage the garage in a sustainable way and to guarantee a high level of quality of customer services.
