The 12th edition of PAACE Automechanika Mexico, Mexico and Central America’s most important international trade show for the automotive aftermarket, returned to the Centro Banamex in Mexico City, July 14 – 16, 2010, with the largest event in its history.

Approximately 650 exhibitors from 19 countries around the world exhibited their latest products and services this July in 9,456 net square meters of exhibition space in PAACE Automechanika Mexico 2010. The size of the 2010 event grew 140 percent in comparison with 2009, signaling the growth and recoverry in the global automotive aftermarket and confirming the opportunities in Mexico’s important and significant share of the market. Mexican companies accounted for more than 40 percent of the exhibit space on the show floor during the record event.

In addition to the record presentation of exhibitors from Mexico and around the world, PAACE Automechanika Mexico was successful in restricting access to the show to only the most qualified buyers and attendees in the industry. The event welcomed 12,059 individual qualified buyers and industry press to the 2010 edition, representing the most qualified and highest caliber buyer attendance in many years. Key aftermarket players attended the three-day trade show from Mexico, Latin America and abroad to find the latest products and services, network with industry colleagues, learn more about the personalization of vehicles and enhance their business in the PAACE Automechanika Mexico Seminar Program.

The 2010 PAACE Automechanika Mexico Seminar Program offered a wide range of technical sessions as well as business seminars to educate both technicians and shop owners on how to improve processes, increase efficiency and continue to develop business. The overall program attendance soared this year to more than 8,500 attendees over the three days.

“Every year Power Star presents a seminar in conjunction with ATSG, the Automotive Transmission Service Group,” says Mayrel Valdes, purchasing agent for Power Star Products Corporation. “And this year we had an attendance of more than 900 people in our seminar. It was a complete success!”

A new feature of the Seminar Program this year was the participation of ASA, the Automotive Service Association, offering an enhancement to the educational program with three three-hour sessions each show day on Auto Body Repair, Electrical Troubleshooting and Success in the Automotive Repair Business.

Exhibiting companies confirmed the success of the 2010 event, recognizing it as the most successful edition in many years. Returning exhibitors were pleased with the increase in the size of the show and quality of attendance while first-time exhibitors explored the opportunities in the Mexican market.

“The show improved significantly in comparison with last year. There is a solid mix of business men and women, wholesalers, mechanics and international buyers,” says Emilio Isais, sales and marketing director for Interfil.

First-time exhibitor Fabian Centeno, Latin American Sales Manager for Atlas Auto Equipments, distributed by Greg Smith Equipment says, “PAACE Automechanika Mexico was a great way to get exposure in the Mexican and Central American markets. We have enjoyed years of success in the USA and Canada and this show allowed us the opportunity to help grow the brand in an area where we see enormous opportunities. We generated quality leads and there seemed to be a high number of attendees. I would recommend this show to anyone looking for exposure in these markets.”

Additional show features this year covered everything from feature vehicles and live customization to product innovations and demonstrations. Responding to the needs of attendees, the New Product Showcase featured 30 of the latest products and services launched by exhibiting companies onsite in a special display, demonstrating the innovations in the market. In order to support the growth and interest in the specialty equipment market, PAACE Automechanika Mexico 2010 featured one of the largest tuning displays in Mexico with more than 98 customized vehicles during the show sponsored by the National Association of Mexican Auto Clubs (ANACM) and Muscle Cars V8 Magazine. West Coast Customs Mexico also returned this year with their popular presentation of live demonstrations and customization of vehicles, drawing crowds of thousands for their live recording of an episode of the 3rd season of their popular TV show, “Tunéame la Nave”.
