Twenty-five participants and their particularly sustainable and emission-cutting products have been chosen for the Automechanika ‘Green Directory.’

An independent expert, Dr. Gerhard Angerer of the Fraunhofer Institute for Systems and Innovation Research ISI, reviewed all 60 entries in terms of innovativeness and sustainability. Points were then given within the framework of the subsequent analysis of materials and energy efficiency and emissions balance.

The 25 participants with the most points have been included in the Green Directory. Together with eye-catching signs depicting a leaf
located on and in the halls, the guide, which comes in the form of a handy brochure, takes Automechanika visitors to the exhibitors and products listed.

New this year is the presentation of a special award to the product with the most points. The first winner is exhibitor AVL DiTEST GmbH for the ‘AVL Pure Range Extender’ in the ‘Systems’ category. The AVL Range Extender is automatically activated as soon as
the battery state-of-charge (SOC) falls below the predefined energy reserve limit or the anticipatory operation system the requires the
activation and supplies the drive train or battery with electrical energy to guarantee that the destination is reached. The rotary
piston engine allows for a compact structure, is low-vibration with maximum power densities and low acoustic excitation.

The awards will be presented during the Automechanika opening ceremony on Sept. 14, 2010. The 25 participants and products selected for the individual categories are:
