ABRN announces 2014 Top Shops Contest winners

Oct. 1, 2014
ABRN announced Mayfield Collision Centers in South Euclid, Ohio, as the winner of its 2014 Top Shops Contest, and recognizes 9 other shops.
ABRN has named Mayfield Collision Centers in South Euclid, Ohio as the 2014 ABRN Top Shops Contest winner. The company has been in business for 25 years and is led by owner Tom Griffin. Mayfield Collision Centers has two shop locations with 12 to 14 bays per facility and four bays in a new aluminum repair facility.

Griffin is a former president of the Automotive Service Association (ASA) greater Cleveland chapter, a past president of Coyote Vision Group, a peer management group and the NorthCoast 99 winner for best workplaces in Northeast Ohio. Mayfield Collision Centers is affiliated with many organizations, including, I-CAR, ASE, the Better Business Bureau of Cleveland for 20 plus years with a AAA rating, Council of Small Enterprises (COSE) for more than 10 years and ASA of Greater Cleveland for more than 20 years.

According to Krista McNamara, ABRN managing editor, Mayfield Collision Centers distinguished itself in the competition due to its continued growth as a business and consistent focus on training. By yearend, the shop will be fully I-CAR Gold certified at both shop locations. They also encourage employee training and performance, with 40 percent of their top performing employees promoted in 2013. “Employee empowerment is strongly encouraged and rewarded through multiple programs and incentives,” said McNamara.

In addition, Griffin continues to seek education in both business and leadership areas to continuously improve his business. The company also has an ongoing focus on social media usage to ensure the best outreach and returns.

“Mayfield Collision Centers’ focus on development — both in terms of business growth and employee advancement — set them apart,” explained McNamara. “Mayfield Collision was recognized in the top 10 in 2013, and their continued commitment to thriving in the collision repair industry resulted in top honors this year.”

McNamara points out that the business celebrated its 25th anniversary this year, but their continual business success has not made them complacent. The shop prioritizes training and works to keep its staff up-to-date on the latest repair trends and techniques. “Their new Aluminum Repair Center, set to open by yearend, is a testament to their commitment to evolving with the industry.”

Mayfield Collision Centers will be featured on the cover of the December 2014 ABRN issue. The magazine will include articles on the nine additional shops that made the 2014 Top Shops list. They are (in alphabetical order):
