3M announces two new automotive window films at SEMA

Nov. 2, 2016
During SEMA 2016, 3M launched 3M Scotchshield Automotive Window Film Crystalline Security Series (CRS40 & 70).

With the average age of automobiles on the road increasing, drivers continue to look for high quality aftermarket products to maximize efficiency and comfort. For more than 50 years, 3M™ Window Films have offered innovative solutions for sun control, UV protection, glare reduction, safety, and security. Most importantly, as the needs of drivers worldwide change, 3M is able to use its extensive expertise and scientific knowledge to enhance and conceptualize new products.

During SEMA 2016, 3M launched 3M™ Scotchshield™ Automotive Window Film Crystalline Security Series (CRS40 & 70), a brand new film designed to increase impact resistance and shatter protection for enhanced safety and security. Available in both 40 percent and 70 percent visible light transmissions (VLTs), the product also has advanced heat rejection capabilities, providing added protection and comfort in one film. Additional benefits of the product include a metal-free design with zero interference and less reflectivity.

Expanding on their popular Crystalline Series product line with a new VLT offering, 3M will also highlight 3M™ Automotive Window Film Crystalline 20 (CR20). Through the use of proprietary multilayer nanotechnology, this product is the latest in advanced heat rejection films, offering a significant reduction in solar energy when compared to traditional window films. Designed to provide ultimate comfort, the film rejects up to 97 percent of infrared light* with no electronic interference and blocks up to 99.9 percent of the sun’s UV rays.

“3M is proud to be an industry leader in automotive window film by ensuring that our full line of products enhance comfort and safety,” said Tim Thornton, Global Business Director. “We are committed to developing products that exceed the expectations of our customers through science-based research and a commitment to innovation.”

During the SEMA show, visitors to the 3M booth will experience a new interactive heat demo walkway, encouraging attendees to experience the difference between windows with and without film. SEMA attendees will also get the opportunity to meet Chip Foose – host of Velocity’s Overhaulin’ and 2016 SEMA Hall of Fame inductee – during an autograph session on Thursday, November 3 from 3:30-4:30 p.m.
