LAS VEGAS — Jason Halbach of Sheboygan Chevrolet in Sheboygan, Wis., was named the winner of the GARMAT USA Sharp Shooter contest at SEMA 2014 in Las Vegas. The contest, which began in 2011, was designed to recognize quality paint techs and shop owners that use Garmat equipment.

Halbach was named the Grand Prize winner, and was awarded a trip for 2 to the SEMA Show and a SATAjet 4000B Camouflage Limited Edition Paint Gun.

"The talent that we have seen from this contest just continues to amaze everyone within the Garmat organization," says Johan Huwaert, Garmat USA's general manager. "The shop owners appreciate the contest too, as it provides the added benefit of validating their commitment to quality by showcasing their choice of equipment and capabilities of their technicians."

The contest asked paint techs and their managers to tell their Garmat Story in either video testimonial or written statements. Judging was based on the shop owner and paint tech's dedication to providing quality paint jobs, superior customer service, attention to safety and overall equipment knowledge.  Bonus questions included an inquiry on how Garmat can improve their Garmat experience with product improvements.

The contest win marked a trio of firsts for Halbach — his first time on a plane, first time in Las Vegas and first visit to SEMA. He summed up the experience in one word: "Amazing.

Halbach and fellow painter John Michaels, under the guidance of shop manager Jeff Wiegand, submitted their contest video. Two of the shop's four painters, Halbach and Michaels have worked together for about 5 years.

Halbach's interest in the automotive industry started at a young age. "My dad and I did a lot of work on cars together when I was young, a lot of father-son projects."

After completing his automotive education at a local technical school, Halback joined the Sheboygan Chevrolet team.

In addition to the Grand Prize of a free trip to the SEMA SHOW in Las Vegas, SATA provided 2 SATA Camo Paint Guns, one to Halbach, and another to the first runner up.  Five finalists were each awarded two Samsung Galaxy Wi-Fi tablets, (one for the contestant and one for the owner/manager), and the first 100 entrants received a custom Garmat Sharp Shooter Cap.
