Clark Plucinski joins CAPA board, elected president

Jan. 1, 2020
CAPA elected Clark Plucinski president of its Board of Directors.

The Certified Automotive Parts Association (CAPA) elected Clark Plucinski president of its Board of Directors. He is the second collision repairer who has held this position, following Bob Anderson of Sheffield Lake, Ohio.

“I am delighted with Clark’s election,” said Jack Gillis, CAPA’s executive director. “A principal thrust of CAPA’s efforts in the year ahead will be to continue to build awareness and support of CAPA throughout the industry. Clark’s vast inter-industry experience makes him particularly qualified to continue the remarkable growth that CAPA has already experienced.”

Plucinski has more than 40 years of industry experience starting as a collision repair technician in 1970 at a major GM dealership. He was co-owner and president of BCP Auto Body from 1973 to 1996, a four-location collision repair business in the metropolitan, D.C. area. He became True2Form’s executive vice president of sales & marketing, where he participated in building a chain of 43 collision repair businesses located in four states.

In August 2010 True2Form was acquired by the Boyd Group and is now part of Boyd/Gerber, which has more than 180 locations in 14 states and four Canadian provinces. As a former board member (1996-2000) Plucinski has had significant past experience with CAPA.

He has held various board seats including: I-CAR, I-CAR Collision Repair Education Foundation, CAPA, ASA Collision Division Committee and the Washington Metropolitan Auto Body Association where he served as president. He received the I-CAR Founders Award, the ASA Special Achievement Award, and was elected into The Hall of Eagles.

“As CAPA celebrates its 25th anniversary, I am not only proud of being part of CAPA’s history, but looking forward to continuing CAPA’s unique efforts at protecting both consumers, and the industry, from poor quality parts. We repairers need quality competitive parts and CAPA is clearly the best way to identify them in the market,” said Plucinski, who began his new position on April 1.

CAPA’s board includes:

Bill Brower, Liberty Mutual Insurance

Bill Daly, Allstate Insurance

Bill DeGrocco, GEICO

Jack Gillis, CAPA

John Palumbo, PartsChannel, Inc.

Clark Plucinski, Boyds Group /Gerber
