The Society of Collision Repair Specialists (SCRS) set dates for its fourth annual Affiliate Leadership Conference, taking place at the I-CAR headquarters in Hoffman Estates, Ill. Based on feedback and participation of the SCRS' affiliate associations, the one-day event was expanded to a two-day series, and is scheduled to run from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. Sept. 16 and from 8 a.m. to noon Sept. 17, 2009.

"The initiatives, efforts and perspectives of our affiliate associations have long been the foundation for the work of our organization," says Aaron Schulenburg, SCRS executive director. "The Affiliate Leadership Conference not only embraces those core grass-roots level initiatives by placing them center stage in the event, but we believe those initiatives can be the driver in developing logical and relevant solutions to the issues facing our industry. Growing the conference to include a conclusive work product at the end that is fed by the collective insight of our affiliates will hopefully deliver tangible results back to those 34 affiliates in attendance, and more importantly, to the thousands of individual businesses who continue to support these associations in hopes of workable solutions to trying issues."

While the agenda and details of the meeting have not been finalized, the SCRS says the format of the meeting in 2009 will bring much of the same value as previous years, with some exciting new additions to the conference model to challenge the experience and knowledge brought by the participants to examine a key issue within the industry while looking at model solutions.

"We are looking forward to offering yet another event which has proven to be a very powerful interaction with our affiliates," says Barry Dorn, SCRS chairman. "The communication, learning and efforts to better our industry that takes place at this conference are both commendable and exciting to watch. To further expound on the content of the meeting and come up with an agenda that takes the discussions a step further, putting that shared expertise of our affiliates to work will only add value to an already exceptional meeting."

Dan Bailey, SCRS vice chairman, adds, "This annual event has and will continue to help bring us all in alignment with our goals of educating, informing and representing the collision repair professional in all aspects of this industry. Providing the forum for some of the most dynamic and talented representatives of the leading associations throughout the country that fosters open communication and shared learning, will hopefully only further promote a solid understanding of the issues. Further, it is our goal to cultivate that understanding into identification of positive steps that can be taken to address the issues and promote a more recognizable and unified voice within the industry."
