As IBIS 2014 draws nearer, excitement is building among delegates and partners alike. With a packed agenda and conference timetable, this year’s event promises to be the must-attend event of the body repair industry.

We asked our Media Partners what they were most looking forward to about the event and why people should be attending IBIS.

Darryl Simmons, publisher, Collision Repair Magazine in Canada said: “The 'connected' car is top-of-mind for anyone who is serious about this business. I'm really looking forward to Sean Carey's presentation focusing on the connected car and discussing whether the claims process is connected or disconnected. Aside from the presentations, IBIS is an excellent opportunity to stay connected with global thought leaders in the collision repair industry.”

Sam Street, editor, Australasian Paint and Panel in Australia said: “It is fascinating to hear from such diverse global markets. The standard of presentations are excellent and thought provoking, the networking opportunities unparalleled. The IBIS event enriches my understanding of the collision repair universe and much of the information can be relayed through our magazine to help Australian repairers improve their businesses.”

Filipe Teixeira, Project Manager, Anecra in Portugal said: “Anecra-Revista is Anecra’s magazine; Anecra is the largest association for motor trades and repairs in Portugal. The majority of our associates are independent workshops and bodyshops. IBIS is an excellent opportunity to ‘stay tuned’ to what the future tendencies of this market are. It also enables the exchange of experiences between companies of different countries and to find out the best practices. Although Portuguese aftermarket companies usually don’t work outside Portugal, IBIS is a good occasion to meet people who are decision makers in our market. In the IBIS 2014 programme, I am looking forward to three talks in particular: French and Spanish experiences, challenges of passing family businesses from one generation to the next and the challenges of the ‘connected car’.”

Ivonne Vermeulen, editor, Aftersales Magazine in the Netherlands said: “I come to IBIS to get inspired and to meet other international professionals from the repair sector”.

Mark Hadaway, editor, bodyshop in the UK said: “IBIS provides the ideal platform from which to gain insight into markets from around the world and put domestic markets into a global context. Looking beyond what is ‘familiar’ serves to highlight new opportunities and this, to me, is potentially one of the greatest benefits to the mature UK marketplace.”

IBIS 2014 takes place at the luxurious Hotel Arts, Barcelona 19–21 May 2014. With the support of our partners – 3M, AkzoNobel, Audatex, Automechanika, Axalta, EMM, Enterprise, Innovation, Quindell and Thatcham Research – this year’s IBIS is set to be the best yet.

Since its inception in 2001, IBIS - the International Bodyshop Industry Symposium - has become firmly established as the leading global conference and networking event for collision industry leaders and influencers.

The inaugural summit was held at the Celtic Manor Resort Hotel in Wales in 2001 and hosted 120 delegates from 12 countries. Since then, IBIS has been held at various venues around the world and annually attracts over 350 delegates from more than 35 countries.

Alongside the IBIS Global Summit also sits an increasing number of ‘regional’ events designed to bring global knowledge to local markets. Regional events in 2013 included IBIS Poland, IBIS Russia and IBIS Middle East. Further events, including a new event IBIS Turkey, are scheduled to take place in 2014 as well a return back to Poland and the Middle East.
