I-CAR adds NHTSA, IIHS, CAR and Bosch speakers to July conference

I-CAR is pleased to announce the expanded 2013 I-CAR Inter-Industry Conference speaker line-up for July 24 and 25 in Boston. Four technology leaders will present the following key industry topics on July 24: Advancements in integrated vehicle safety systems, evolving vehicle-to-grid and vehicle-to-vehicle communications, driver and pedestrian safety, the impact of CAFE on vehicle design, and the potential for autonomous vehicles. The speakers announced include: Nathaniel Beuse, Associate Administrator for Vehicle Safety and Research | National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA) - Nat Beuse is responsible for NHTSA's vehicle safety research activities, which are focused on achieving reduced fatalities and injuries caused by motor vehicle crashes. These activities include developing and conducting research aimed at supporting Federal Motor Vehicle Safety Standards and consumer information programs, spurring voluntary industry actions through guidelines, and advancing the state of the art on a wide variety of vehicle programs. David Zuby, Chief Research Officer | Insurance Institute for Highway Safety (IIHS) - David Zuby is Chief Research Officer for the Insurance Institute for Highway Safety and works out of the Vehicle Research Center (VRC). He is the author of numerous research papers published by the Institute on topics such as the biomechanics of injury, pedestrian protection, crashworthiness, and crash investigation.

Richard Wallace, Director, Transportation Systems Analysis | Center for Automotive Research (CAR) - Richard Wallace has 20 years of experience designing, conducting, and managing transportation projects and research and serves as principal investigator for CAR's connected vehicle efforts for the Michigan Department of Transportation. Wallace also heads CAR's work on U.S. Department of Transportation Research and the Innovative Technology (RITA) project that applies remote sensing to bridge-health monitoring and CAR's components of a mobile computing project for the U.S. Army's Tank Automotive Research, Development and Engineering Center.
     
Dr. Kay Stepper, Director, Driver Assistance Systems, Chassis Systems Control | Robert Bosch LLC - Dr. Stepper is Head of the Regional Business Unit and Director of Engineering for Driver Assistance Systems for the Chassis Systems Control division of Robert Bosch LLC. He is responsible for the product and business development of automotive driver assistance products and systems in North America. He has more than twenty years of experience in the automotive industry and has received both his master's degree and doctorate in electrical engineering from the Technical University of Berlin, Germany.

Keynote, Reginald R. Modlin, Director of Regulatory Affairs | Chrysler Group LLC - Modlin is responsible for all aspects of product safety and environmental compliance for Chrysler. As the event's Keynote Speaker, he will focus on the topics of CAFE compliance and impact on vehicle design. His key responsibilities at Chrsyler include: policy development to guide reaction of legislation and regulations in the NAFTA regions vehicle emissions certification, fuel economy strategy and reporting, and vehicle safety compliance demonstrations and resolution of compliance issues with EPA and NHTSA.
     
Conference Moderator, John McElroy, TV Host and Author | Autoline - John McElroy has an extensive background covering the auto industry and is a renowned automotive expert. He is the host of Autoline Daily, the first industry webcast of automotive news and analysis, the host of television program "Autoline This Week," and published journalist. McElroy will serve as the event's Moderator leading attendees through the fast-paced, comprehensive event.
