An expectation-shattering 284 entries in the Inaugural Church Brothers Collision Repair Car Show enabled the Indianapolis-based collision repair firm to raise $11,000 to benefit Wounded Warrior Project (WWP).
The recent event, held at the Church Brothers Shadeland Avenue shop on the city’s far eastside, earned high praise from entrants and spectators alike. One Top 20 winner said, “I can’t believe this is the first show Church Brothers has held. It was first-class from start to finish. Everything ran smoothly, the quality of the entries was top notch, and everyone already is looking forward to next year.”
Organizers were amazed by the turnout. “We were expecting around 120 entries,” said Church Brothers Collision Repair co-owner Dan Hall, “and would have been thrilled with that number. Luckily, we were prepared for more, and were absolutely delighted with the actual turnout and the amount ultimately raised for Wounded Warrior Project.” Every dollar from entry fees, a raffle, bottled water sales, and on-site contributions was earmarked for the cause, and Church Brothers matched that amount dollar-for-dollar to bring the total raised to $11,000. A group of active duty Indiana National Guardsmen and women accepted a ceremonial check in behalf of WWP.
Former NFL player Joe Staysniak, co-host of 1070 The Fan’s Grady & Big Joe Show, was the event’s emcee. Indianapolis Motor Speedway historian Donald Davidson appeared for a conversation about this year’s Indianapolis 500 plus fan meet-and-greets. Organizations on-site with displays and demos included Indiana State Police, Indiana National Guard, Indiana Pacers, Meguiars Car Products, and Volunteers of America Veteran Services, among others.
“We’re going to be getting our car show committee together soon to discuss what worked well and what we can do even better,” Hall said, “and we definitely will be back next year!”
