CCC, American Honda work together to address vehicle safety

CCC Information Services Inc. and American Honda Motor Co., Inc. announced they are working together to address vehicle safety and to strengthen and extend American Honda’s recall outreach efforts.

With a record-setting 51 million vehicles identified for a recall in 2015, the urgency for car manufacturers to reach consumers with recall notifications is unprecedented. CCC Information Services Inc. and American Honda Motor Co., Inc. announced they are working together to address vehicle safety and to strengthen and extend American Honda’s recall outreach efforts.

American Honda is the first original equipment manufacturer to share its open recall data with CCC TRUE® Recall, an automatic notification solution that alerts collision repair users of CCC ONE® Estimating (CCC ONE) when the vehicle they’re working on is part of a critical manufacturer recall. CCC ONE is in use by more than 22,000 collision repair facilities and CCC is a leading SaaS technology provider to the auto insurance industry.

“Reaching consumers with any potential recall notification is critically important to American Honda,” said Leigh Guarnieri, National Collision Marketing Manager, American Honda. “CCC’s technology is in use by more collision repair facilities than anyone else in the industry, making them the ideal partner for us. CCC TRUE Recall will augment and extend our existing recall notification process, providing us with an additional touch point to help reach consumers with recalled yet unrepaired vehicles. Safety is everyone’s responsibility. We’re excited to work with CCC so we can pioneer this additional strategy.”

How CCC TRUE Recall works
When an estimate is being written and a vehicle identification number is entered into CCC ONE, the system will detect if that specific vehicle has a critical open recall. If a recall is detected, users will automatically receive a vehicle recall notice via a pop-up screen within the CCC ONE solution. Once this occurs, collision repairers are encouraged to inform the owner that their vehicle is part of a recall and to print a copy of the recall notification, which is provided by the manufacturer.

“As vehicle technology has become more sophisticated and complex, the industry has seen the number of recalls increase,” said Jim Kinsherf, VP, Parts Services Group, CCC. “Reaching affected consumers quickly is paramount to keeping our roadways safer. Through our CCC TRUE Recall offering, we’re able to provide OEMs with an integrated solution that will broaden the reach of recall notifications and make the recall process more timely and efficient. American Honda is a great collaborator and the recall team has been extremely helpful in testing and validating the CCC TRUE Recall solution.”
