”Garage Gurus,” a nationwide technical education network established to help vehicle repair professionals keep pace with the latest automotive technologies, has arrived in the Los Angeles market. Technicians, service writers, shop owners and other representatives of the region’s more than 15,500 repair businesses were on hand to celebrate last night’s grand opening of the Garage Gurus training center in Van Nuys.
As part of the “black carpet” grand opening celebration, guests were able to swap stories with reality TV star Danny “The Count” Koker, a self-taught mechanic whose Las Vegas-based vehicle restoration and customization business is featured in the “Counting Cars” series on History.
The new Van Nuys training center offers more than 100 onsite, online and on-demand courses designed to help technicians, shop owners, service writers, and other front-line professionals enhance their skills in an age of increasingly sophisticated vehicle designs. Accessing critical diagnostic and repair information and related skills-based training has long been a challenge for the nation’s nearly 220,000 automotive repair businesses.
“We Americans love our cars, and we respect and rely on qualified repair professionals to help keep us safe behind the wheel,” said Dan Ninivaggi, CEO, Federal-Mogul Motorparts. “Garage Gurus is an important new investment in the future of these locally owned businesses and their thousands of employees who deserve comprehensive, highly accessible training and support.”
Repair professionals and other guests had the opportunity to tour the new, 15,000-square-foot training center, meet several of Federal-Mogul Motorparts’ more than 100 ASE-certified “Gurus,” inspect two of the network’s Web-connected “Gurus-On-The-Go” product technology vans and try a variety of new eLearning modules.
All Garage Gurus training, product demonstrations and related assistance are available in English and Spanish languages.
