Continental is releasing its newest over-the-highway long haul drive tire for big rigs, the HDL2 DL, which stands for Heavy Drive Long haul Deep Lug.

A closed shoulder tread design provides excellent traction in both wet and dry road conditions and resists irregular wear, according to marketing director Clif Armstrong.

An innovative lug angle provides outstanding traction throughout the life of the original tire, and a wider casing increases handling stability, he says, adding that Continental is also featuring its patented groove technology on the tire, designed to reduce stone retention and casing penetrations.

Engineered for maximum mileage, it has the company’s deepest truck tread with a 32/32-inch depth.

“Continental’s truck tire customers recognize the need for long-lasting equipment, especially in today’s market conditions when long original miles factor in choosing a tire that will perform to their standards,” says Armstrong. “With the new HDL2 DL, we’re now offering them a full inch of tread depth that gives them maximum mileage for their long-haul applications.”

The new tire is available now through Continental truck tire dealers in these sizes:

  •  11R22.5
  •  275/80R22.5
  •  11R24.5
  •  285/75R24.5

It is being produced at the company’s award-winning plant in Mount Vernon, Ill. For more information, visit www.conti-online.com.
