Ali Kossler of Anaheim, Calif. was crowned as the 2010 Miss General Tire Mint 400 to reign over last weekend’s racing extravaganza in Las Vegas.

Since the start of the contest in February, a record number of Miss Mint hopefuls registered to be selected. Visitors to company’s Internet site voted, Kossler claimed the highest tally and was subsequently awarded the tiara during the kickoff event Thursday night on the main stage next to the Golden Nugget Hotel at the Fremont Street Experience.

“We had such a great time bringing back the Miss Mint Contest last year, and this year, the results are just off the charts,” reports public relations manager Dana Zamalloa. “This contest is a great addition to an already stellar weekend race event.”

The runners-up, sisters Maria and Michaelene Baldi of Cherry Valley, Calif. were selected through an interview process with the rest of the Top 10 vote-getters, Zamalloa adds.

Kossler was set to appear at today’s General Tire Mint 400 Fan Fair & Tech Day and helped start Saturday’s race. In addition to being the centerpiece of all the Mint 400 activities, she also receives $1,500 and a personal photo shoot.

In its heyday, the race was famous for celebrity drivers and the “Mint 400 Girls,” and a Miss Mint 400 was annually crowned. The title has been achieved by a number of famous-to-be models, including Linda Carter of television’s “Wonder Woman” and iconic “Wheel of Fortune” letter-turner Vanna White.
