The newest competition entry is wider in appearance and is again powered by a six-cylinder boxer 4-liter engine with a six-speed gearbox and a paddle shift.
Team Falken driver Bryan Sellers is eager to get back on track and acquainted with the new vehicle after first seeing it in December at the Porsche banquet in Weissach, Germany.
“You can still tell it’s a real Porsche,” says Sellers. “It’s impressive to see the improvements they’ve made.”
Sellers and colleague Wolf Henzler report that they are eager to return to Team Falken for this year’s racing season.
February tests at Sebring International Raceway are rapidly approaching, and the crew has limited time to prepare the car for its Sebring runs.
Falken completed last year’s racing schedule on a high note, according to the duo, finishing fourth in the GT Team Championship and fifth in the GT Drivers’ Championship. This season will be the third year of competition for the company’s American LeMans Series staff.
Falken, a subsidiary of Sumitomo Rubber Industries, launched its line in Japan in 1983, arriving in North America two years later. It has since developed a focus on ultra-high performance tires while utilizing professional racing to further enhance and improve passenger car tires for worldwide distribution.The company says future developments include expanding within in the premium performance market.
