Locally owned Dave’s Car Care, Inc. enters its 35th year of business bringing accolades that only few achieve. With humble beginnings, Dave Denmon opened a tire shop on the corner of 51st Avenue and Peoria in Glendale on April 15, 1980, remembering lessons learned from his father, “integrity is never for sale” and “if you had the time to do the job right the second time there was sufficient time to do it right the first time, so examine your own failures and learn from your process.”

Within four years, Denmon was essentially bankrupt but he made a conscious decision to press forward and expand his business from tires and undercar to complete automotive care. That change would expand his business and his revenue, allowing Dave to erase his debt in just four years.

During this period, Denmon committed himself and his team to the belief that if they did not invest in technology, tools and training that they could not fully service his clients’ needs. Denmon continued to consistently invest each year in improving technology, tools, processes and training for his staff. Today Dave’s Car Care has all the elements needed and has the ability to work with any make/model bumper to bumper. Their goal is to be a dealer alternative for auto repairs.

Dave’s Car Care recognizes their greatest asset is their customers and treats them as such. Beginning with a comfortable waiting room that includes a touch screen portal that provides car function and repair demonstrations, they also offer free rides within a three mile radius, and loaner vehicles. Every customer receives a follow-up call after each visit to confirm their satisfaction.  In addition, every customer receives a hand written “thank you” note.

“Our goal is 100 percent customer satisfaction and we will do everything within reason to make that happen,” Denmon states, “In addition, we appreciate referrals and recognize our customers for doing so by sending them movies tickets. ‘Welcome to the family’ gift boxes are mailed to new customers who spend over a certain dollar amount, and we send monthly mailings to our VIP customers. We feel genuinely privileged when a customer walks into our door and we want to them to leave feeling valued and appreciated, because they are.”

In some circles, Dave’s Car Care is recognized more for the ministries Denmon founded such as Sunnyslope Ministers of Hope, an organization to help and feed the local homeless, or the organizations he founded such as “Cars for Wounded Warriors”. Multiple less-fortunate international children are being sponsored either by Denmon personally or by Dave’s Car Care. Although these things were done to serve, people remember the name far beyond the service.

Dave’s Car Care earned the prestigious honor of being a AAA 2013 and 2014 Top Shop. The crowning achievement for Denmon and his staff was winning the 2014 Better Business Bureau Torch Award for Business Ethics.

“We are truly humbled and honored especially since this was the first time that a first-time nominee won the award," Denmon’s commitment to a business of honesty and integrity was established in 1980 when he first opened his doors, and that commitment remains the same today as it was then.
