Ford 4R75E: Internal wire harness and solenoids

In 1998, with all AODE/4R70W transmissions, Ford decided to exchange a typical internal wiring harness for a molded circuit board.

In 1998, with all AODE/4R70W transmissions, Ford decided to exchange a typical internal wiring harness for a molded circuit board as seen in Figure 1. This affected the construction of the pass through case connector and all the internal solenoids.

The years have shown a number of electrical concerns with this “hard wire frame” configuration. As a result, in 2009, all 4R75E transmissions returned to the “soft” internal wire harness design (Figure 2). This, too, includes all new design internal solenoids.

None of these parts will retrofit back to previous models.
