Wells Vehicle Electronics debuted its GoTech™ Mobile OBDII Diagnostic Tool in Las Vegas earlier this month, and aftermarket buyers promptly recognized the technology’s impact by voting it one of the best new products on the market today. The diagnostic solution, which turns compatible mobile devices into diagnostic scan tools, won Best New Product in the Tool & Equipment category at the 2015 Automotive Aftermarket Products Expo (AAPEX), held Nov. 3-5 in Las Vegas.

Building on the GoTech product tagline, “Complex Problems. Easy Solutions.™”, GoTech and its accompanying free app allow do-it-yourselfers to use their iPhone, iPad and Android smartphones and tablets to monitor performance and store vehicle year, make and model information for up to 10 vehicles. With the device, consumers have the ability to define powertrain trouble codes, access Wells’ proprietary library of more than 10 million diagnostic records compiled by Master ASE-certified technicians and clear check engine lights.

Products were displayed in the New Product Showcase onsite at AAPEX, and buyer attendees voted for their favorite new products by using scanning technology. The New Product Showcase each year is a focal point of AAPEX, giving buyers the chance to see new, leading-edge technology in one location.

“Wells is excited to have today’s aftermarket professionals recognize GoTech as the best new tool showcased this year at the premier event for the aftermarket,” said David Boer, vice president of sales and marketing, Wells Vehicle Electronics. “So many great products made their debut this year, and to have GoTech at the top of the list illustrates how our tool fills the need to help consumers make better decisions for their vehicle repair needs.”

Consumers using GoTech, which does not require any in-app purchases like other solutions do, can take advantage of the “Freeze Frame” option to email vehicle performance information of the vehicle at the time the code set, as well as the capability to email trouble code information and troubleshooting/repair tips. A “Clear Codes” function also provides consumers the ability to clear a vehicle’s check engine light.

The Android, iPhone and iPad trademarks are trademarks of Google and Apple, respectively, and are used for reference purposes only.
