ODYSSEY Battery becomes official battery of Dream Giveaway Car sweepstakes

EnerSys, the manufacturer of ODYSSEY batteries, is pleased to announce a sponsorship agreement with Dream Giveaway, a national program designed to raise funds on behalf of non-profit organizations to fulfill their mission of providing grand-prize vehicles to lucky winners across the nation.
EnerSys®, the global leader in stored energy solutions for industrial applications and the manufacturer of ODYSSEY® batteries, is pleased to announce a sponsorship agreement with Dream Giveaway®, a national program developed by DG Group Marketing Solutions designed to raise funds on behalf of non-profit organizations to fulfill their mission of providing grand-prize vehicles to lucky winners across the nation.
Through this sponsorship, EnerSys will donate an ODYSSEY battery to be installed in every vehicle that is part of the sweepstakes. Each year, 12-15 vehicles are purchased for use in the program and since its inception in 2008, Dream Giveaway has raised millions of dollars towards awarding more than 70 winners with custom cars, trucks, motor homes and college scholarships. “This relationship was born from a chance meeting at last year’s SEMA Show where we had the opportunity to learn more about the wonderful things that the Dream Giveaway team was doing for charities across the U.S.,” said Alan Kohler, marketing manager, transportation and specialty at EnerSys. “We wanted to contribute to this philanthropic endeavor, which was really making a difference in people’s lives, and knowing that a majority of the grand prizes were vehicles and we manufacture one of the leading automotive battery power solutions – it just made perfect sense.”
So far, the ODYSSEY battery from EnerSys has been installed in three cars as part of the grand-prize sweepstakes: a 1965 Corvette, a 1968 Mustang and a 1970 Chevelle. Prior to each winner being announced, the grand-prize cars are housed in a showroom facility in Clearwater, Florida, which can often times put a strain on the life of the car’s battery due to the state’s notorious hot weather. The ODYSSEY Extreme SeriesTM battery provides a great solution to this problem as it is specifically designed to perform well during high temperatures, up to 176°F (80°C). It also has an extremely favorable storage life – up to 2 years without recharging – and can last up to 10 years with proper care and maintenance. “Our vehicles come from multiple sources and before meeting the folks at EnerSys, there was no consistency in the battery brand we used and it was hard to decipher its age; our worst fear was awarding a grand-prize car to a winner that subsequently goes home to find a dead battery a few days later,” said Christopher Phillip, director of communications at Dream Giveaway. “We needed a reliable battery that could provide lasting power, even in the harshest of temperatures, and the ODYSSEY battery does just that and much more.” To learn more about Dream Giveaway visit www.dreamgiveaway.com.
