Hybrid Services, San Juan, Puerto Rico’s leading hybrid auto care facility announces that it has joined The Hybrid Shop (THS), a growing international network of dealers committed to providing expert care for hybrid-electric vehicles (HEVs), as a Dealer Partner.

In 2012, after being in the general aftermarket auto repair business for several decades, owner Xavier Soto transformed the friendly, local auto shop into a hybrid-exclusive operation. Soto made the decision to do so after seeing the great environmental and money-saving benefits hybrid cars bring to owners. Since this transition, it has been Hybrid Services’ mission to provide economically and environmentally conscientious hybrid owners with the best, most technologically innovative solutions for hybrid maintenance, with the greenest alternatives available.

“Our customers love their hybrids and the green appeal, but they know that the repairs and maintenance can be quite costly,” Hybrid Services’ owner Xavier Soto states. “We are extremely excited about becoming a THS Dealer Partner and that through these services we can continue our mission to deliver our customers with options that deliver the best of all worlds: an environmentally friendly and cost-saving solution that improves and extends the life of their hybrid vehicle.”

An underperforming hybrid battery can result in decreased fuel economy and torque, leading to significant battery replacement costs, amounting to as much as $4,000 to $9,000. Through its partnership and training with The Hybrid Shop, Hybrid Services now offers hybrid Battery Pack Conditioning, a green service that restores up to 95 percent of the battery pack’s original power and energy, while driving significant increased fuel economy over the vehicle’s lifetime. The ability to restore, as opposed to replace, the batteries is a critical element in the environmental sustainability of these services. Furthermore, Hybrid Services offers the optional State of Health (SOH) program that assesses the vehicle’s bigger picture, which is conducted prior to Battery Pack Conditioning to evaluate how different aspects of the car are trending to deliver maximum results, reliability, and cost-savings from hybrid vehicle services.

Key advantages and savings that Hybrid Services’ customers can expect from these new services also include:

  • Cost-savings – Battery Pack Conditioning is approximately 1/3 of the cost of battery replacement;
  • Enhanced fuel economy – between 10-35% fuel economy improvement depending on the initial SOH of the battery;
  • Enhanced vehicle performance – every HEV serviced will perform more efficiently, cost less to operate and have improved drivability; and
  • Immediate gratification – customers experience improved performance and fuel economy following completion of the THS service at Hybrid Services.
  • A comprehensive menu of services - to ensure hybrid owners receive the highest quality of one-stop-shopping for repair and maintenance for their hybrid vehicle. These services include:
    • Battery Pack Conditioning and rebuilding services,
    • Testing of electric transmissions, DC-DC converters, power inverter and control systems, and
    • Hybrid specific maintenance.

Hybrid Services has already serviced hybrid batteries for several very satisfied customers. In fact, after receiving the Battery Pack Conditioning service, a customer came back to Hybrid Services concerned that his mile per gallon meter was malfunctioning: it had shot up from 39 mpg to 55 mpg. Needless to say, he was pleased to hear that his meter was not faulty, and that he truly did experience a 16 mile per gallon jump immediately after the service occurred.
