AMI welcomes Dan Risley to AMI Board of Trustees

The Automotive Management Institute (AMI) has welcomed Dan Risley to its Board of Trustees. 

The Automotive Management Institute (AMI) has welcomed Dan Risley to its Board of Trustees. Risley is executive director for the Automotive Service Association (ASA) and assumed the association’s permanent board position in June.

Risley said, “AMI has a long, storied history with ASA and I’m glad to continue building upon that relationship. AMI’s ability to continually deliver high quality education and content that is relative to today’s business is a testament to their reputation in the industry. I’m grateful to be able to contribute to their ongoing success.”

Risley, who has served the industry in many roles throughout his career, joined ASA after six years at Allstate Insurance Co. where he was a market claims manager. Prior to that he served as executive director of the Society of Collision Repair Specialists (SCRS).

“I have known Dan for many years and have great respect for him and what he has done for our industry. We on the AMI Board look forward to working with him as the ASA representative,” said Tony Passwater, AMI chairman and president of AEII in Indianapolis.

Toni Slaton, AAM, AMI’s executive director, said, “We are pleased to welcome Dan to the AMI Board of Trustees. His enthusiasm and commitment to the automotive service industry will be an asset to the AMI board.”

Other board members include Sheri Hamilton, AAM, ASA-Midwest, Overland Park, Kan.; Bob Keith, AAM, CARSTAR, Overland Park, Kan.; Tim McDonnell, Mitchell1, Poway, Calif.; Tony Passwater, AEII, Indianapolis and Freda Thompson, AAM, Ace Auto Body, Inc., Hartselle, Ala.

The members of AMI’s Board of Trustees represent both mechanical and collision repair shops of varying sizes, and industry associations and companies.

AMI was established in 1989 to answer the demand for continuing education tailored specifically for the business needs of the automotive service industry. The Institute offers the Accredited Automotive Manager (AAM) designation, the first business management accreditation exclusively for the automotive service professional. To date, AMI programs have attracted more than 224,000 enrollments throughout North America. AMI is a not-for-profit educational foundation to which tax-deductible contributions can be made.
