ACDelco is rewarding technicians and aftermarket service centers for making the commitment to enhance their skills through ACDelco training. The ACDelco Technician Training Recognition Program awards technicians with a special medallion for each core ASE training path he or she completes.

“Technicians and service centers that go the extra mile to provide service expertise to their customers deserve to be recognized,” said Dale Tripp, manager of ACDelco aftermarket training. “In this business, training is a vital investment for keeping technicians engaged and growing your customer base.”

The ACDelco Technician Training Recognition Program is open to members of ACDelco’s Professional Service Center, Regional Service Center and Key Fleet Repair and Maintenance programs. It gives technicians the opportunity to increase their knowledge and skills in each of the core automotive ASE areas. These ASE areas are represented on a training path, each of which includes about 40 hours of a combination of web-based and face-to-face training.

The combination allows participants the opportunity to complete a portion of the training online – 24/7, at their convenience – and the other portion in the classroom, while networking with an experienced instructor and other skilled technicians.

The training path courses represent the latest automotive technologies. Ten available training paths offer technicians the ability to achieve their “Specialist” status:

·       A0 – Alternative Propulsion

·       A1 – Engine Repair

·       A2 – Automatic Transmission/Transaxle

·       A4 – Suspension and Steering

·       A5 – Brakes

·       A6 – Electrical and Electronics

·       A7 – Heating, Ventilation & Air Conditioning

·       A8 – Engine Performance

·       A9 – Light Duty Diesel

·       A10 – Body Electrical and Communications

The paths also contain a Professional – or elective – portion, of which participants can choose which courses to complete. This allows some versatility in the specific courses they choose to complete as a part of that path.

Upon completing a path, an ACDelco training representative will award the technician with a professionally designed and cast medallion, and a plaque to display the medallion and others the technician earns.

Service Center managers will receive an equivalent medallion and plaque to display in the front of the shop. This plaque is designed to house medallions that any technician working at that shop receives.

Award recipients will also receive a printed certificate summarizing the courses on the path they’ve completed and a letter of completion acknowledging their “Specialist” status.

To participate, log in to the ACDelco training website (acdelcotraining.com) and access the training path courses through the Training Progress Status Report on the site’s homepage. This chart provides a clear, personalized view of a technician’s status toward completing the assigned training paths.

Participants can modify their preferences to ensure they’ve turned on all the paths for which they’re interested in achieving a “Specialist” status. Click Select Training Paths from the homepage. ACDelco field representatives also can help service centers and technicians join the program.

“We can’t wait to award the first “class” of technicians and their employers,” said Tripp. “Expertly trained technicians elevate the aftermarket, are more likely to provide superior customer service and get more satisfaction out of their careers.”
