“AAIA is thrilled to once again honor exceptional aftermarket companies that take pride in the commitment to continuous learning,” said Kathleen Schmatz, AAIA president and CEO. “These outstanding organizations and their devotion to continued excellence in education benefit not only the businesses themselves, but also the entire aftermarket industry.”

Winners of the 2013 “Head of the Class” award will join a distinguished collection of previous winners, including: Tenneco, Inc.; KOI Auto Parts; Olympus Imported Auto Parts; N.A. Williams Company; The Car Doctor; The Timken Co.; Gold Eagle Co.; Automotive Parts Headquarters, Inc.; Crow-Burlingame Co.; VIP-Parts, Tires & Service; and Gustafson’s Auto Clinic, Inc.

One “Head of the Class Award” will be presented to an AAIA member company in each industry category, including manufacturer, warehouse distributor, independent jobber/parts store, retailer, national service chain, independent service and repair shop and manufacturers’ representative. To apply, companies must include information directly related to the education and training practices of the company, including what prompted the company to invest in training, training for job competency vs. education for personal growth, the types of training accomplished, the initial goals, their experiences, results of the training and any future plans.

Applications are due by Friday, April 19, and winning companies will be notified in late June 2013. Winners will be selected by the AAIA Education Committee, and recognized during AAIA Fall Leadership Days 2013 in Dallas, Texas. Winning companies will also be profiled in Aftermarket Insider magazine.
