Ford issued two safety recalls, one for approximately 423,000 vehicles in the 2011-2013 model years for a potential issue with electric power steering.

After four minor accidents and no injuries attributed to the concern, Ford has recalled certain 2011-2013 Ford Taurus and Flex vehicles, Lincoln MKS and MKT vehicles, certain 2011-2012 Ford Fusion and Lincoln MKZ vehicles and certain 2011 Mercury Milan vehicles in North America.

These vehicles are at risk of a potential intermittent electical connection in the steering system gear that might result in the loss of electric power steering assist while driving. If this happens, the steering system default to manual steering mode, making the vehicle more difficult to steer, especially at lower speeds. This could increase the chance of a crash.

Ford has also issued a recall for certain 2015 Ford Mustang vehicles with a 2.3 L engine in North America for elevated underbody temperatures. Affecting 19,500 vehicles, prolonged exposures to elevated underbody temperatures might cause degredation of the fuel tank and fuel vapor lines, which could eventually result in a fuel leak. This can also cause the parking brake cable seals to degrade, potentially affecting their function, and increases the risk of fire.

Ford is not aware of any accidents, incidents or fires resulting from this.
