TST, ATSG, ATTS partner with Automechanika Chicago to develop service repair training program for 2015

June 24, 2014
The Advanstar Automotive Group has announced partnerships with Technicians Service Training (TST), Automotive Technician Training Services (ATTS), and Automotive Transmission Service Group (ATSG) to create training for Automechanika Chicago 2015.
The Advanstar Automotive Group, a leading provider of integrated media solutions to the automotive aftermarket and collision repair industry, has announced partnerships with Technicians Service Training (TST), Automotive Technician Training Services (ATTS), and Automotive Transmission Service Group (ATSG) to help develop a comprehensive training program that meets the needs of technicians and shop owners alike for Automechanika Chicago 2015. Pete Meier, Advanstar Automotive Group’s Director of Training, will spearhead the effort.

“These quality organizations are known for conducting outstanding technician training programs in the U.S. and around the world,” explained Meier. “In addition to helping us structure the core service dealer training program, they will assist in attracting the ‘who’s who’ of instructors for the event and in teaching some of the courses.”

Meier, an ASE Master Technician and technical editor of Motor Age, said Motor Age and Auto Body Repair Network (ABRN) are currently conducting reader surveys to understand what mechanical and auto body repair shops are looking for in a training program. This feedback will help Advanstar, TST, ATTS and ATSG develop the type of high-end technical training that will compel automotive technicians to attend the show.

“The partnership that TST and ATTS has forged with Advanstar will greatly expand the opportunities for technicians to receive top-quality training at this new technician focused event in Chicago,” said G. Jerry Truglia, founder and president of TST and president of ATTS. “With the ever increasing complexity of today’s vehicles, this type of training is more important than ever.”

ATSG President Wayne Colonna says ATSG’s partnership with Advanstar Automotive is important because specialty transmission shops are facing many challenges.

"Not only is the repair of automatic transmissions more difficult for these shops, but for nearly a decade the amount of repairs have steadily declined," said Colonna. “As we’ve seen automotive transmission shops diversify into general automotive repair work in order to survive, they are hungry to learn what's necessary to work under the hood beyond their specialty into areas such as ABS, powertrain and engine management.”

On May 1, Messe Frankfurt, announced the launch of Automechanika Chicago in cooperation with Advanstar Communications. The biannual event will take place April 24-26, 2015 at McCormick Place in Chicago. To learn more about Automechanika Chicago, visit www.AutomechanikaChicago.com.
