The TST 14th Annual Technician Training Big Event will be held on Saturday, March 25, 2017 — rain, snow or shine.
Top instructors at the event will include WorldPac’s Mark Warren, ATSG’s Wayne Colonna and NAPA's Tom Rayk, with a keynote from iATN’s Scott Brown. The seminars — which will cover underhood diagnostics, transmission diagnostics, tools and equipment usage and more — come with full-color readable training materials and a TST color newsletter.
Each year, the training program aims to help techs stay current with diagnostics and repair procedures as vehicles become more complex. More than 360 shop owners and technicians attended the 2016 event.
“With new vehicles being so technically advanced, it’s now more important than any time before to stay updated so you and your business do not evaporate,” says G. Jerry Truglia, president of TST.
Rayk will lead "Electrical World Class Diagnostics," a seminar that covers needed electrical diagnostic techniques without the OHMS law and other formulas. He will perform actual diagnostic tests on stage with a camera so the class can participate. Learn the fastest way to perfom VD testing and many other techniques that will speed up your electrical diagnostics.
Colonna will lead "CVT Dirvability Diagnostics." Understanding how a CVT works is necessary so they can be properly diagnosed. There are several different designs on the road today, with each having their own unique principles of operation. This session will identify them and go over their differences.
The training costs just $75 — a savings of more than $260 from previous years — thanks to the support of event sponsors, including Motor Age. Other event sponsors include AirSept, ATS Automotive Test Solutions, Autolite, Autologic, BG Lubri-Care, Drew Technologies, Flo-Dynamics, FRAM, GTC General Technologies Corp., LAUNCH, Midtronics, Neutronics, Redline Detection, Run Rite and others.
The sponsored training model is similar to that used at Automechanika Chicago 2015, which offered free training to all attendees, thanks to industry sponsorships. "Automechanika Chicago was a big test of this, as well as other events," said Truglia, who did lead some training courses at the Chicago event in April 2015. "Since technicians and shop owners don't have the money to spend on training, this template is the way to go."

As usually there will be breakfast, lunch, snacks, soft drinks available throughout the day.
The event is being held in a new venue this year — the Westchester Marriott Hotel and Conference Center in Tarrytown, NY. The hotel is just minutes from New York City’s main attractions as well as Westchester, West Point, Cold Springs and other beautiful and historical Hudson Valley locations. The hotel is also only minutes from Westchester County Airport (HPN) and less than an hour from New York’s LaGuardia (LGA) and Kennedy (JFK) Airports.
Special hotel room rates will be available; for more information call the hotel direct at (914) 333-1207 and mention the TST Big Event.
