The aftermarket's largest automotive chains seem to be sporting armor against the economic recession that characterized 2009.

Generally, the aftermarket has shown signs of weakened performance, sales and continued consolidation, all spurred by the economic downturn. However, the first-ever Auto Chain Insight Study participants — all those businesses encompassed in the annual Aftermarket Business Top 40 Auto Chain Report — most commonly reported seeing a sales increase of 4-7 percent throughout 2009. This was followed closely by respondents who report same sales figures year-over-year when comparing 2008 and 2009.
