Organized by Messe Frankfurt (Shanghai) Co Ltd and the China National Automotive Industry International Corporation (CNAICO), Automechanika Shanghai is taking place Dec. 11 – 14, 2012 at the Shanghai New International Expo Centre.

It will be the largest ever show with 180,000 sqm of exhibition space and more than 3,900 exhibitors from 37 countries and regions will showcase their products to more than 70,000 domestic and international buyers.

Commenting on this success, Jason Cao, General Manager for Messe Frankfurt (Shanghai) Co Ltd says: “Automechanika Shanghai covers the three main product sectors of Parts & Components, Repair & Maintenance and Accessories & Tuning.  Each sector complements the other to attract professional buyers and this is one of the unique and important reasons why the show continues to see strong growth every year.”

More companies join the second biggest Automechanika show

Due to support from the industry, Automechanika Shanghai is proving to be an effective and influential marketing platform for the Parts & Components sector for brand building and new product launches. This year’s show continues to attract many loyal leading companies including BorgWarner, Bosch, Changan, Continental VDO, ContiTech, Dayco, Delphi, Dongfeng, Febi Bilsten, Federal Mogul, Fras-le SA, Great Wall, Mahle, MANN+HUMMEL, Meritor, NTN-SNR, Schaeffler, TRW, Unipoint, Wanxiang, Yuchai and ZF, as well as many new exhibitors such as FAWER, GKN, Hella, Meiji Sangyo, and Valeo.

“Automechanika Shanghai is an international and influential trade fair of the auto industry, our company thus is exhibiting to establish a Chinese business base and to promote our new Shanghai office," saysHajime Hayashi, Executive Officer for the Overseas Division of Meiji Sangyo. "We are expecting to improve our brand awareness for SEIKEN hydraulic brake/clutch parts as well as promoting NSK bearings brand to the China market.”

The expanded repair & maintenance sector is showcasing brands such as Apollospray, Bantam, Beissbarth, Berton, Cartool, Corghi, Graco, Hennessy, Jonnesway, Launch, PCL, Stanley, Tech and Zonda, together with many new brands at the show including Aoili, GYS, Lincoln, Midtronics and TACTIX. They will be showcasing a variety of products including workshop equipment and tools, diagnostic and testing technology, body repair and car painting.

This year’s show will also cover more repair and maintenance products and services such as battery management and testing as well as fluid control, to cater the diverse needs of industry sector buyers.

First-time exhibitor Midtronics Inc from the US is known globally for its innovative battery testers and chargers which are supplied to most global automotive manufacturers and battery manufacturers, including Ford, GM, Mercedes, Nissan, Toyota and VW. At the show the company will be demonstrating their battery testers and chargers as well as announcing their newest Battery Management Information System (BMIS) to the public for the first time.

Tiny Xu, the company’s Product Manager explains the reasons for exhibiting at the show. “We hope to improve the company’s image and branding popularity, and enhance awareness for preventative maintenance and warranty management.  Also via this show we want to sell more services and meet customers from automotive manufacturing, 4S shops, battery manufacturers and dealers.”

Due to increasing market demand, the accessories sector is showing strong growth this year, especially in electronic appliances and car care products, which have doubled in both number of exhibitors and exhibition space compared to last year.

In addition to the extensive marketing campaigns for the show, road shows have been launched in China’s major production bases such as Guangzhou, Shenzhen and Taizhou. This was done in co-operation with government agencies as well as leading industry associations and organisations, with the aim of further promoting the accessories sector.  Key brands such as Botny, HSAE, Spacekey and SVAUTO have become our first time exhibitors after the road show presentations.

“Automechanika Shanghai is an excellent platform for us to meet with professional buyers from around the world as it takes our business to a global level,” says Li Chang Yu, Security Business Division General Manager of Spacekey Auto Electronics Co Ltd.

Other confirmed brands for the accessories sector include Bluestar, Carlas, Formula-1, Haoshun, Meguiar’s, OSRAM, Qmi, Sansui, Steelmate, TJM, WD-40 and Wynn’s.

Commenting on the automotive aftermarket, Zhang Jinbo of Guangzhou Botny Chemical Co Ltd, a Chinese company that specialises in car care and chemical decoration hardware says: “The automotive aftermarket is highly competitive. However, this environment is good for the development of automotive repair & maintenance and accessories industries, especially for those involved in car care products. We have been in the accessories market for many years and have stable dealers. Now we are planning to explore new channels to find dealers from auto parts & components, and Automechanika Shanghai covers both of these two target markets which is an ideal platform for our business development.”

Attending Automechanika Shanghai for the second time will be TJM Products Pty Ltd, Australia’s first 4WD accessory manufacturer, which produces vehicle frontal protection systems, side and rear protection bars, sports bars, roof racks and side steps. Export Manager Gary Turner says the company was exhibiting again because participation in last year’s show increased their brand awareness. “The show is a good opportunity to grow worldwide business through expanding our manufacturing and distribution networks,” he explains.
