“Bosch Workshop Cabin Air Filters are designed to bring traditional Bosch-quality fit and functionality to the installer segment,” says Chuck Kerrigan, Director, Regional Business Unit, North America, for Filtration Americas, a division of Robert Bosch LLC. Bosch is a worldwide supplier of automotive parts and systems to original equipment manufacturers (OEM) and the aftermarket. Bosch offers the traditional line of oil, cabin air and fuel filters to the aftermarket in North America.

The lineup of Bosch Workshop Cabin Air Filters includes 130 part numbers that offer 90 percent coverage for all vehicles in operation (VIO) in North America.

Usually located under the hood, behind the glove box, or under the dashboard, cabin air filters are designed to capture environmental contaminants such as pollen, dust and dirt that can potentially enter a vehicle’s interior through its heating and air-conditioning vents. Bosch Workshop Cabin Air Filters are 90 percent efficient in capturing contaminants 3 microns or larger and have the capacity to hold 15 grams of pollutants. One micron is one-millionth of a meter and 15 grams is the approximate equivalent of 36 standard-size paper clips.

“Bosch Workshop Cabin Air Filters are available in the familiar red and yellow Bosch packaging which has been available to automotive technicians in most countries around the world, and we felt it was time to offer this program in the U.S. as well,” said Kerrigan.

Bosch offers two types of cabin air filters – particulate filters and activated charcoal filters. The two-layered Bosch particulate filter featuring mold-resistant media includes a non-woven pre-filter layer and an electrically charged microfiber layer for maximum performance and durability. The upgraded activated charcoal filter’s four-layered design includes an electrically charged microfiber layer and adds an activated charcoal layer between two non-woven layers that retain the carbon. This upgraded design provides maximum absorption of foul smelling gases such as ozone, nitrogen oxide, sulphur dioxide and hydrocarbons.

Bosch recommends replacing cabin air filters every 12,000 to 15,000 miles or once a year, for maximum benefit.

According to Kerrigan, “In a tough economic environment, these OEM design filters provide a repair shop the ability to offer Bosch-level quality at a competitive price.”
