SLAMSTOP, the global manufacturer of a sophisticated soft-close vehicle door device, is expanding to the U.S. with a new headquarters, distribution center and certified installer network to position the product accessibly to businesses and consumers looking for a feature that adds elements of luxury and safety to any vehicle’s door.

The launch, set to be headquartered in the Southern California area, was influenced by the recent success the business experienced during the Specialty Equipment Market Association (SEMA) Show in November where the company said it received ample positive feedback on the product. The interest of SLAMSTOP appealed to a wide range of potential customers during SEMA, from street rods, classic cars, fleet vehicles, limos, exotics, luxury, performance cars, trucks and SUVs, to even a company that builds fire engines, the company said.

Michael Oakes, Vice President of Business Development and Sales at SLAMSTOP, explained they are starting quickly with their U.S. company, SLAMSTOP USA, LLC, with development of a Southern California-based distribution and customer service center as well as an installation facility. Once completed, Oakes will join Chief Financial Officer Dmitry Iurgens and Director of Marketing Anton Dyshkant, as they continue to raise awareness about the product.

“When I first learned of SLAMSTOP, I was excited that there was a product that I could sell through multiple automotive channels and we definitely saw that at SEMA,” said Oakes. “Once our U.S. warehouse and offices are established, we’ll be searching for the best installers from the East Coast to West Coast to build a strong, nationwide installer network.”

Oakes comes to SLAMSTOP with more than 27 years in the automotive aftermarket industry. His diverse background includes positions held in retail management, independent sales and executive sales with some of the best-known brands in the industry. His responsibilities at SLAMSTOP will focus on management of the distribution network to expand the product and create awareness about its exclusive features.

When a driver does not properly shut the car door or a passenger door becomes ajar while the vehicle is in motion, SLAMSTOP acts as a safety precaution and is guaranteed for 30,000 cycles, or roughly 10 years of usage. Previously available on only high-end vehicles as part of a luxury package or factory option, SLAMSTOP works with all standard driver and passenger doors, as well as sliding doors, using a unique sensor that automatically monitors when a vehicle’s door reaches a specific distance from the door frame. As soon as the space is detected, a sensor is triggered and transfers the information to the SLAMSTOP operating system to secure the door shut, the remainder of the way. Developed by European engineers, SLAMSTOP is manufactured and produced in South Korea, with R&D based in Europe.
