The U.S. Commercial Service of the U.S. Department of Commerce (DOC) has granted Trade Fair Certification to Kallman Global Consulting to organize the official U.S. Pavilion at eCarTec 2011. This event will be held at the Munich New Trade Center, Munich, Germany, October 18-20, 2011.

The third edition of this annual show attracted 12,300 visitors and featured 388 exhibiting companies from 25 countries in 2010, a doubling in numbers of exhibitors and paid space over the previous year. Still greater numbers are expected in 2011; therefore, the fair will be enlarged by a third hall. There will be a new focus on energy and infrastructure. The event is under the patronage of the German Member of the European Parliament, the German Minister of Transport, Building and Urban Development, and the Bavarian Minister of Economics, Infrastructure, Transport and Technology.

Germany has taken an international lead in the effort to reduce CO2 emissions and the German R&D sector is rapidly developing alternative drive systems, such as electric motors, fuel cells and hybrid technology. According to Worldwatch, Germany will increase electric vehicle production to 1 million units by 2020 and 5 million units by 2030, aided by some $705 million in research funding through 2012. To achieve its target of a 40-percent emissions reduction sectorwide by 2020, Germany plans to use the long-awaited electric vehicle plan to further trim transport emissions. "The federal government's target is to make Germany the leading market for electric mobility," the Environment Ministry says.

The German car industry is adapting to the new increased demand for electric cars. Two case studies with fully electric corporate fleets, by Vattenfall and E.On, have been successful. “E-mobility Berlin,” a joint initiative by Daimler and RWE, has shown that electric vehicles can perform well in a city setting. Daimler contributed 100 vehicles, while RWE installed 500 charging stations around the capital. This initiative will drive technology development and raise awareness in Germany’s capital.

eCarTec 2011 has the support of the DOC’s staff in both the United States and Germany. By supporting this event, the DOC recognizes the capability and exhibition experience of the organizer of the U.S. Pavilion, Kallman Global Consulting, and the potential of this market for U.S. industry exports. Companies participating in the U.S. Pavilion are provided with an excellent venue to establish or expand overseas distribution, generate sales leads, identify licensing and joint venture partners, find new customers, meet with existing clients, introduce new products, assess the needs of the European market, and evaluate competitors. U.S. Commercial Service staff from the American Consulate General in Munich will render on-site assistance to U.S. exhibitors.

The Trade Fair Certification (TFC) Program is a cooperative arrangement between private sector show organizers and the U.S. Government. The TFC Program seeks to broaden the base of U.S. exporters, particularly new-to-export and new-to-market companies, by introducing them to key trade fairs where they can meet their export objectives.
