Automechanika Shanghai features nine overseas pavilions

Nine overseas pavilions have already confirmed their participation at Automechanika Shanghai, Asia's largest trade fair for automotive parts, equipment and services which is taking place from 8 - 11 Dec. 2010 at the Shanghai New International Expo Centre. The pavilions represent France, Germany, Korea, Malaysia, Singapore, Spain, Taiwan, Thailand and the USA. The show attracts a record-breaking 2,800 exhibitors from 27 countries and regions showcasing their latest products in 138,000 sqm of exhibition space in 11 established halls plus 6 temporary halls.

International brand names Continental Automotive and MAHA GmbH & Co KG are among the exhibitors in the German pavilion which is sponsored by the German Federal Ministry of Economic and Technology (BMWi), in cooperation with the Association of the German Trade Fair Industry (AUMA). Mr Dietmar Schmitz, Head of Division Policy on Fairs and Exhibitions for BMWi said: "We support German manufacturers and suppliers wanting to enter into new foreign markets, especially China which is an important automotive market, so Automechanika Shanghai is the perfect aftermarket and garage equipment platform for us."

The Singapore pavilion is supported by International Enterprise Singapore under the IMAP Grant and led by the Association of Small and Medium Enterprises (ASME). It will feature 12 companies including ComfortDelGro Engineering Pte Ltd, Filtration Solution Pte Ltd, Marko Tack (Singapore) Pte Ltd and Toyopower Automotive & Industries (Asia) Pte Ltd. Mr Daniel Chen, ASME's Senior Executive for International Relations commented: "With the full implementation of the China-ASEAN Free Trade Area, we are expecting larger export volumes to China. We will make good use of Automechanika Shanghai as it is a prominent marketing and sourcing platform for the Singapore automotive industry."

The Spanish Automotive Equipment and Components Manufacturers Association (SERNAUTO) is organising the Spanish pavilion. Thirteen well-known brands such as DYS, Eurofren Systems and Icer Brakes will showcase their latest products ranging from suspension parts, brake systems, lubricants and additives, diagnostic equipment to water pumps and metal parts. Mr David Antolin, SERNAUTO's International Promotion Manager said his association exhibited at last year's show for the first time. "Our exhibitors were happy with the results," he explained. "Now Automechanika Shanghai has become our must attend show because it helps our suppliers gain access to the Asian markets. The Chinese market is driven by a strong domestic demand for cars due to a growing economic development and an increased purchasing power, making it one of the world's largest automotive markets. We will not miss this unparalleled business opportunity."

A number of international brand names will exhibit at Automechanika Shanghai for the first time. These include:

  • Parts and components exhibitors: Affinia, ArvinMeritor, Changan Automobile, Continental, Cummins, Dayco, Delphi, Dow Corning, Federal-Mogul, Honeywell, Iveco Engine, Lingyun, Mobis, Raybestos and Yuchai Machinery.
  • Repair and maintenance equipment exhibitors: Giuliano, ITW and Stanley.
Delphi Trading (Shanghai) Co Ltd will showcase their latest vehicle electronics, thermal system, diesel aftermarket and chassis at the show. "To match with our global marketing strategies, we are exhibiting at Automechanika Shanghai because of its good reputation and China's automotive aftermarket is full of potential," said Mr Clifford Kang, General Manager.

Dow Corning (China) Holding Co Ltd, a global silicon-based technology leader, will display their new fluoro liquid silicone rubber product designed to meet stringent automotive engine temperature, fuel and oil resistance specifications. Mr Patrick Gao, China Auto Market Specialist, Automotive Department believes that Automechanika Shanghai is so influential that it attracts quality visitors and exhibitors. He aims to find new business opportunities at the show.

Sharing a similar view is US company Raybestos Powertrain LLC, which is the world's largest independent wet friction field manufacturer. Mr Sheng Qiang, the Beijing office's Chief Representative said: "Automechanika Shanghai is very influential in the industry, we will take the opportunity to promote our brands and find new buyers and distributors."

Other leading parts and components brands such as Fiamm, Schaeffler, Unipoint, Wanxiang and Xinyi Automotive Fitting are exhibiting at the show. Well-known repair and maintenance exhibitors include Balance, Bright Technology, Corghi, Ever- eternal, Jonnesway, Karcher, Launch Tech, MAHA, SPX and Zhongda.

Automechanika Shanghai is one of 14 global Automechanika fairs held in Asia, Europe, North America, South America and Africa.
