Automechanika 2012 presents tomorrow's mobility concepts

Jan. 1, 2020
New forms and concepts of mobility are hotly debated issues these days. Nevertheless, it is not enough to focus solely on vehicles. The automobile industry is undergoing a massive process of change. Segments that at first glance seem to be completely
The next Automechanika, the leading international trade for mobility in the future, is scheduled for Sept. 11-16, 2012, in Frankfurt, Germany. No other event covers the subject along the entire automotive value chain. Numerous exhibitors present innovative solutions from the fields of original equipment, retrofitting, automobile and charging accessories, waste disposal and recycling. The last Automechanika attracted 4,471 exhibitors and around 155,000 visitors from 181 countries. Over 85 percent of the exhibition space for Automechanika 2012 has already been booked.

Automechanika exhibitor and e-mobility pioneer Karabag is planning a major presentation revolving around the subject of ‘smart grids’ on around 4,000 square metres of exhibition space at the Agora outdoor area. This special show is based on the ‘Energy Autarkic Commercial and Dwellings’ estate planned by Karabag in Norderstedt, near Hamburg, which will show how the automotive environment is likely to develop in the future.

The exhibitors will include companies that, at first glance, have nothing to do with the automotive market, e.g., battery manufacturers, companies from the field of renewable energies, such as solar or wind power, as well as universities and training facilities that will train the ‘automotive mechanics of the future’. A decisive buzzword in this connection is autarky and the show will demonstrate how vehicles, energy supply and building technology are expected to merge into a system of autarkic mobility in the future.

Interest in Automechanika is also being shown by companies from the field of charging infrastructure. Energy utilities, such as EON and RWE, as well as leading international manufacturers of industrial plug and socket connections have announced they will be taking exhibition space.

In cooperation with the German E-Mobility Association and its member companies, Messe Frankfurt is developing a thematic world entitled ‘Mobility of the Future’, which will give consumers the chance to find out about new mobility concepts although they have no access to the fair.
