Automechanika Shanghai offers record number of related programs

A record number of new and returning fringe programs will be held during this year’s Automechanika Shanghai Dec. 10-13 at the Shanghai New International Expo Centre in China.

A record number of new and returning fringe programs will be held during this year’s Automechanika Shanghai, which takes place Dec. 10-13 at the Shanghai New International Expo Centre, Shanghai, China.

Representing the show organizer and commenting on the fringe programs, Jason Cao, Senior General Manager for Messe Frankfurt (HK) Ltd. said: “Over the years, Automechanika Shanghai has built up a solid reputation for its wide spectrum of cutting-edge fringe programs which provide innovative and practical-based content for different industry players. For 2013, we have the largest ever line-up owing to our extensive cooperation with local and overseas government agencies, industry associations, research institutes and professional media. Altogether we will have more than 30 fringe programs, including many new events covering different industry sectors in the whole industry chain.  These programs offer information exchange as well as networking, educational and training opportunities and complement the show’s trading, marketing and brand functions.”

One of the new events is the Sino-German Auto Dealers Networking Event, which is organized together with AUTOHAUS CHINA. It will be held on Dec. 10, 2013, the first day of the show.  AUTOHAUS CHINA is a sister publication of AUTOHAUS, a leading German business-to-business auto magazine. The Chinese version is published by Messe Frankfurt New Era Business Media Ltd and Springer Fachmedien München GmbH, and focuses on auto sales, sales management, auto finance, and after-sales maintenance.

Ralph M. Meunzel, Publisher of AUTOHAUS CHINA said: “This event will introduce the current state of China’s automotive aftermarket and help China’s 4S shops to develop sustainable profit strategies as well as increasing management efficiency for after-sales services.  More than 200 senior managers from domestic 4S shops and 20 from German OEMs, will be invited to the event.”

In August, a successful meeting in Dalian, China, attended by Chinese provincial leaders and professionals from the auto repair and maintenance industry, discussed new regulations that came into force on October 1, 2013, relating to repair and replacement liability and the return of automotive products.  As a result, a similar event will be organized at this year’s Automechanika Shanghai. In cooperation with “Motor China,” the event will analyze the impact of these new regulations on the automobile industry and consumers. Catering to different levels of professionals from the repair and maintenance sector, the event will also help to distinguish “auto warranty” from “auto recalls” and “auto product liability.”

A two-day forum called SAE 2013 Vehicle Electronics & Powertrain Technology Forum is scheduled for December 10-11, 2013. It is co-organized by the Society of Automotive Engineers (SAE) International, a global association that creates international meetings and exhibitions relating to technology design, manufacturing, and service life cycle for the auto and other related mobility industries. The other co-organizer is the China Auto Association Electric Motor and Electric Appliance Committee for Vehicle. The renowned supporting organizations are the China Auto Electron and Electric Appliance Study Center for Technology and Development, and China Auto Electric Information Net. This forum brings together industry players from all over the world to deliver their insights about the latest industry development and technology innovation.

Several highly praised fringe program events will be making a return to this year’s show.  For example, the Annual NextGen Auto International Summit China to be held December 9-10, 2013 at the Kerry Hotel, Pudong, is co-organized by Messe Frankfurt (Shanghai) Co. Ltd. and the NDRC’s International Cooperation Centre. It is one of the most influential platforms for China’s auto market, bringing together Chinese and international auto industry executives, government representatives and overseas experts.  This year, the summit will focus on the key technologies and new business directions needed for a competitive edge. Topics will cover transforming competitiveness via partnerships, technology transfer and access to global markets; a roadmap for consolidation; new car markets in China; driver and vehicle safety; as well as boosting fuel efficiency, and strategies for personal mobility alignment with future eco-cities.

Other fringe program events at the show include the following:
