Automotive Service Association (ASA) collision leaders included the Insurance Modernization report in their top issues discussed recently on Capitol Hill. ASA members addressed how a key provision of the Dodd- Frank Wall Street Reform and Consumer Protection Act included a requirement for an insurance modernization report to the U.S. Congress that was ASA- supported.

Members also discussed the new Federal Insurance Office (FIO), and the importance of the FIO.

ASA leaders made clear their support for the creation of the Federal Insurance Office and their opposition to attempts to repeal the requirement of an FIO report to Congress on insurance modernization. ASA members also asked that Congress ensure that the FIO will allow collision repairer input in the insurance modernization report.

Overall, congressional leaders and staff members were made aware of the insurance modernization report’s importance to collision repairers, and were receptive to these concerns.
