Twenty-two representatives of The Alliance of Automotive Service Providers - Minnesota (AASP-MN) spoke to legislators in the State Capitol Feb. 23 about key industry issues, including sales tax on paint and materials, collision shop registration, and prohibition of insurer-owned repair shops.

Members met with over forty legislators during the event and reported that legislators were receptive their concerns. In addition, Representative Joe Hoppe, chair of the House Commerce & Regulatory Reform Committee addressed the group and gave his insider’s perspective on the major issues being addressed during the 2011 Legislative Session.

“I was pleased with the participation in this inaugural event and expect it to grow in future years. Members who attended really enjoyed the day and came away with a better understanding of the legislative process. The connections that were made will serve AASP-MN well as we work to advance legislation for the benefit of members and Minnesota’s automotive service industry,” said Executive Director Judell Anderson.

The Alliance of Automotive Service Providers of Minnesota (AASP-MN) is an association of independently-owned automotive service businesses and industry suppliers dedicated to improving the state’s automotive service industry and the success of its members.
